The Sciencenter is a United Way Pacesetter Organization
(SciencenterNews, Fall 2004)The United Way of Tompkins County kicked off its county-wide 2004 Community Campaign on September 14th, and the Sciencenter is proud to again be one of 26 local Pacesetter organizations. For the three years that we have participated as a Pacesetter, individuals on our staff have directed a portion of their own charitable giving to the United Way.
The United Way directly supports 93 health and human services programs across Tompkins County and is deeply committed to improving the overall quality of life in this community. Members of our staff live here in Tompkins County, and we believe that through our collective giving, we can support our friends and neighbors and ultimately make our community an even better place to live.
As a not-for profit organization that was literally built by members of this community, we rely on others to support our mission. We know first hand what can be accomplished through one's gifts of time and money. It only makes sense that we respond in kind, and give back what we can to the volunteers, visitors, and families that help to make the Sciencenter a community resource.
All of us have many options for our philanthropic dollars. We are very proud that as a staff, we are able help the United Way in their 83rd year of philanthropic service to our area by being a Pacesetter organization. We encourage others to join with us in making Tompkins County a better place to live and do business.
Note: The Sciencenter is again serving as a Pacesetter Organization for the United Way's 2005 Community Campaign.
